"Business Ethics Articles"When it comes to the making or the breaking of a business, your company's "business ethics" are very instrumental to your success. If your company doesn’t have a "Code of Ethics" or guide lines to follow, you may be in for a bumpy journey. Proper business ethics will give your company moral character and respectability. This will keep you out of trouble, avoid law suits and jail time. Does Enron ring a bell? Whether your business has one employee or 100 employees, implement a company wide "Code of Ethics" policy. Being the head of your company, the program needs to start with you. If you take shortcuts, so will your organization. You need to be your companies role model and set the standards you expect followed.

Suggestions for Getting Started!
- Determine your company's long term goal. Decide what you need to accomplish to be the best. Your "Code of Ethics" should drive you to this goal.
- Realize this is not the easiest or fastest approach to your goal. It is the most "ethical" way to your goal. It takes hard work, honest and integrity.
- Research your competition. Do they have a great reputation? How do they do it? Can you use any of their strategies? find someone you respect and follow their lead!
- Always monitor your plan and your progress. There is always room for improvement. Everyone can do things differently to make their organization run smoother.
- Follow your plan. It's your road map. If you take a wrong turn, get back on the right road. Don't end up in Memphis when you're headed to Albuquerque! You need direction.
- Be flexible and revise your plan as you go. If you see a better way to do something, try it. If it works better for your organization, put into effect.
- Always do better than your plan requires. Take that extra step and do better than expected when ever you have the chance. You can't go wrong over achieving in the "ethics" category!
- Feel good about your accomplishments. When you reach your goals through hard work and honesty, you will hold your head up and be proud of the job you have done.
- Set the standard personally. Be the one others follow. Help them achieve their goals. Reward yourself and pay it forward!
